What is mentoring?

Staff at Graduation Mentoring is a new scheme where Buckingham alumni volunteer to offer advice and insights into their professional experience for the benefit of other Buckingham alumni and students. They can give realistic advice about ways to pursue a profession and suggest possible paths 'mentees' can follow to develop their careers.

The role of the mentor is determined by the needs of the mentee. Sometimes the relationship will be one question and in other cases the correspondence may go on for much longer.

Our mentors are not professional advisers but are there to help those hoping to find guidance about a chosen career or profession.

Note: the Mentoring Scheme will help recent Buckingham graduates and students obtain advice on certain jobs, sectors and careers, but it is NOT a recruitment service.

For professional careers advice from the University's careers advisors please see Careers and opportunities.

Remember that you can also help the University by coming to talk to students about your career so far.
